“No matter your level of education, learning from one’s mistakes is the sign of any good entrepreneur or professional. While I always knew that I wanted to own my own company and started my first venture soon after graduating college, and it was what most considered quite successful, I quickly realized that there was a huge difference between book learning and learning by doing.

The decision was made that in order to build a lasting brand, we would be better served by my starting my higher education over in a sense. I decided to learn each major aspect of business in a real world setting and set out on a decade long adventure to become a true expert in the areas of finance, insurance, real estate and marketing/advertising.

The mistake I made was thinking that starting a company right out of college was smart. While that first venture provided us a nice life and was sold for a profit after 8 years, it was not structured to evolve with the times. Years of building true expertise taught me when and what types of risks were worth taking, how to really build brand recognition and the importance of making the business pay for itself.”
